Thomas Henry Jones

Thomas Henry Jones, 94, of Spokane, Wa. passed away on 1/7/23 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.

A Celebration of Tom’s life will occur at 4:00pm Monday, 1/16/23 at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division, Spokane Wa. Reception will follow 5:00 at Jack & Dan’s Bar and Grill, 1226 N. Hamilton, Spokane, Wa.

Thomas Henry Jones (II) was born 10/27/1928 in Seattle, Wa. He grew up in West Hollywood California. At the age of 17, Tom moved to Spokane with his mother Francis. He earned a B.S. degree from Gonzaga University, M.D. from Creighton University and completed a Medical Internship in the U.S. Navy Hospital, San Diego, CA. He began practicing medicine in the U.S. Navy as a flight surgeon with the 1st and 3rd Marine Air Wings as a Group Medical Officer. Returning to settle in Spokane in 1957 he began his private medical practice in Millwood, wa. After 20 years in private practice he moved on to a position as Associate Director of the University of Washington Department of Family Medicine at Family Medicine Spokane. There he managed the program and trained resident Doctors from 1978 to 1997 when he retired. During retirement he continued Precepting part-time at FMS for another 12 years. Additionally Tom served the community providing volunteer medical services at Catholic Charities House of Charity Outreach Clinic from 1997 to 2014. During his years practicing medicine he was a member of no less than 10 medical organizations, 3 which he served as president, 2 as chairman.

He was extremely devout and unwavering in his commitment to his catholic roots and Jesuit relationships. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a proud member of the Gonzaga Glee Club with whom he sang in reunion concerts well into his 80’s.

Tom was the quintessential patriarch. A loving husband, father, grandfather, recently great grandfather, uncle, great uncle and friend to so many! People were drawn to his welcoming & positive fun loving nature. The life of the party and the center of our extended family. We love you and will miss you!

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nadyne Marie Jones (Lawlor), and his grand daughter Meagan Jones.

He is survived by his children and their spouses Tom (Jr.) & Beth Jones, Jack & Karen Jones, Steve Jones, Mike Jones, Tracy Jones, Jim & Vicki Miles (Jones), Pat & Cindy Jones. His grandchildren Adam Jones, Jack(Jr.) & Haley Jones, Jacob Jones, Thomas Jones, Patrick (Jr.) & Ashley Jones. Great Grandchild Ethan Jones.
