Welcome to the memorial page for

Timothy Alvin Thomas

May 14, 1949 ~ July 5, 2017 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Tim arrived early being born premature on May 14, 1949.  Because of his early arrival Tim endured poor eye sight and hearing loss his entire life.  Despite this he thrived.  His thirst for knowledge and attention to detail showed in everything he did. His High School academics were superior, his social life full-and his friends many.  Like all boys he loved fast cars, airplanes and yes-girls.  And no-it was not his fault the chemistry lab at Rogers blew up….it was just a little too much of dad’s gun powder.  There was always a good time to be had when Tim and his buddys band played at the local grange halls.

Tim was a prankster and like everything else his pranks were planned and executed with the same attention to detail.  You’d never see them coming!

In the early 1980’s Tim and his family sold their house in Spokane and bought a very remote piece of land in Twisp Washington.  They lived in a tent and with all hand held tools built a beautiful log home with trees from their land.  With his usual attention to detail everything was researched thoroughly first.  The end result was a home with a wood fueled hot tub, heated greenhouse and propane heat and refrigerator.  Visiting them in the winter was always interesting as it involved a 7 mile snowmobile ride up a rocky mountain side to get to their home.  And of course he drove the snowmobile as fast and crazy as he did his cars.  Just hang on and close your eyes!

Tim’s occupations in life were many and varied, but all treated with the same dedication and attention to detail.  His jobs ranged from working on the Alaska Pipeline with his father and brother, many years at Keytronics, being a line cook, construction worker and rental building maintenance-the job he retired from due to his disabilities.

Tim’s thirst for knowledge never wavered and carried over into his retirement years.  He enjoyed many hobbies as he aged.  He lived for learning and read any and every book he came across no matter what the subject.  If nothing else was available the warranty on that Walmart blender would do (you never know when that could come in handy).  He loved music and playing his guitar..especially with his son Timmy.   He loved helping his son work on his cars,  tinkering and fixing everything that was broken (usually to be given to one of his many friends once it was fixed).  He enjoyed riding his bicycle, caring for his pets, cooking and so much more.

Tim will forever be remembered by his friends and family (and a few strangers too), for his unconditional love and unending support, his incredible personality and what an honestly good man he was.  His  love,  encouragement and support of his son Timmy knew no boundaries-not just words or actions-but the look in his eyes and the pride in his voice when talking about him. Tim wrapped each and every member of his family in those same loving arms.

Tim’s unbelievably strong perseverance and tenacity helped him overcome many hardships in his life only to emerge with a smile on his face and his love and generosity for everyone still intact.  Tim did not judge.   He always saw the good in everyone.

Though we all have faults-Tim was one of the greatest men many of us will ever know.

Tim is survived by his son Timothy who is named after him, daughters Heather, Beverly, Barbara and Alisha. His sisters Karen, Kathy and Sherron. And many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Tim is also survived by his beloved cats- Mittens and Guntar.

Tim follows his beloved wife Cathy, his parents Roy and Velma, his brothers Patrick and David and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  Tim also follows his canine child-Snoopy.
