With loving thoughts and prayers of thanksgiving, we celebrate the life of Tricia Jo Matt. She was born in Spokane on August 7,1991, 12 weeks early, weighting only 2 # 15 ounces. From the beginning she was a strong Native American fighter, needing a ventilator for only 3 days. She is a registered member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribe and a ward of the Spokane Tribe of Indians. She came to live with the Lopez family permanently on Mother’s Day 1993, and we were forever blessed by her love, her humor, and her smile. She attended school from 10 months to age 20 and graduated from Ferris High School in 2012. Since then, she has continued to touch lives. She donated several feet of her beautiful Indian hair to children for wigs over the years. Several of her caregivers credit their present choice of profession (such as Speech, or Occupational or Physical Therapy or RN) to their time working with Trish the Dish. Because of the dedication, hard work and caring of her caregivers and family she had many advantages and experienced a life filled with love and fun; a happy and secure life. Her favorite toys were books, DVDs and talking, moving stuffed animals and babies and she had an abundance of each. She engaged those she met with her twinkling eyes and happy, sometimes mischievous smile. You hardly noticed that she was almost non-verbal and non-ambulatory. We are forever grateful we were blessed to know and be loved by her. A Eulogy Service will be held at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at St Peter Catholic Church, 3520 E 18th Ave, Spokane, Washington. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 23, 2022 at St Peter Catholic Church, followed by burial at Spokane Cheney Memorial Gardens, 5909 Cheney Spokane Rd, Spokane, Washington.
