William C. Bruya, Jr., 80, of Spokane, WA, was born in San Francisco, CA on August 19, 1937, died April 21, 2018, in Post Falls, ID, surrounded by family, due to complications following open heart surgery. “Bill” Bruya is survived by his high-school sweetheart and spouse of nearly 60 years, Anne Bruya; his son Christopher (Monica) Bruya of Ellensburg, WA, and daughters Jennifer Keck of Spokane, and Joan (Don) Pruett; of Puyallup, WA.;six grandchildren, Jeff, Kate, Lindsay, Dillon, Robert and Camille; four great -grandchildren Paisley: Noah, Leah and Zayden (who affectionately called him “Pa” ), sister Michele Prosser, and brothers Lawrence and Donald. Bill, the oldest of 4 brothers and 1 sister, grew up in Spokane, attended St. Aloysius grade school, and graduated 1956 from Gonzaga Prep. During his high school years he met the love of his life, Anne Schneider, and they were married in 1958. Bill attended Seattle U, Gonzaga U, and UW, and served 6 years in the Marine Corps Reserves. He worked in parts and material control for several companies in the Seattle area, returning to Spokane in 1979 to work for Rowand Machinery. Bill retired as parts manager from Acme Materials and Construction in 1999 giving Bill and Anne the opportunity to exchange Spokane winters for sunshine as southwest “snowbirds”, also vacationing in Mexico, Hawaii and the Caribbean. His favorite place was Priest Lake, ID spending summers at their lake place with family and friends, boating, golfing, riding the quad, huckleberry picking, and enjoying a cold beverage while BBQing on the deck. He was always looking forward to the Seahawk, Mariner and especially Zag seasons. He was a car guy and a handyman—Bill was always building something or helping someone with a project. Yet Bill’s greatest love was spending time with his family; he left behind his legacy of putting family first. He was truly the best husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and friend. How he will be missed!
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Marguerite Bruya, brother J. Robert, brother-in-law Glen Prosser, and son-in-law Tim Keck.
