On Monday, December 21, 2020, Yolanda Rose (Orrino) Danelo, loving wife and mother passed away, at the age of 92, following a long and courageous struggle with Alzheimer's, Yolanda was born on January 24, 1928 in Sacred Heart Hospital, Spokane, WA, to Lucia and Michele Orrino, Italian immigrants from Cantalupo nel Sannio, who became proud American citizens. Yolanda graduated from Marycliff High School in Spokane in 1945, and married Joe Danelo in St. Ann’s Catholic church May 14, 1949. Yolanda and Joe (a 20-year career Navy veteran) raised five children together and were married 45 years until his death in 1994. Yolanda attended St. Ann’s parish, except for the three years the family were stationed with the Navy in Pennsylvania and Seattle. Yolanda had one sister, Elda Orrino, who preceded her in death in 1997.
While raising her family, Yolanda spent hours volunteering (with St. Ann’s Altar Society and scouts), and watching and supporting her children’s various school activities which included school meetings, plays, church youth dances, and sports activities. Yolanda loved to sew and bake, and she always made holidays and birthdays memorable experiences. Yolanda worked on her photo albums, filled with pictures of her travels, which took her to many parts of the US to visit family and historic sites, and to Europe, especially Italy, and to Israel. Mostly, however, the albums are filled with memories of several generations of family as Yolanda delighted in sharing their growth and achievements. Yolanda proudly was mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother to two daughters and three sons and their families: Diana Danelo; Timothy and JoAnn (Danelo) Barbour and (Anna (Barbour) Russell and Ed Russell and Flynn and Riddick); Dan and Kathy (Thompson) Danelo and (Dave Danelo and Suvali and Rumita; and Matt Danelo); John and Nancy (Bennett) Danelo and (Bennett Danelo (and fiancé Kayley Martenson) and Brian Danelo); Joe and Emily Danelo and (Joey and Jenna Danelo, and Kylie, Skye, and JoJo; Tony and Gina Danelo, and Ava; and Mario Danelo, who predeceased his grandmother).
