Carol Jean “CJ” Magnuson, age 64, passed away August 17, 2017 in Spokane, WA with her family by her side. A lifelong Spokanite, Carol was born on February 24, 1953. Carol attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and North Central High School. After graduation, she worked at Old National Bank before providing 37 years of service at Gonzaga University. She had a passion for working with students and was known by many as their “campus mom.” Carol loved to spend time with her grandchildren, garden, travel, scrapbook and take an occasional trip to the casino. She is survived by her husband Rick, her siblings Bill Jr (Wendy) Diedrick, Andrena (Dennis) Hansen, children Jennifer Powell, Roy Powell, Chris (Katie)Magnuson, Molly (Mike) Jack, Margit (Ed) Walker and grandchildren Alivia, Evan, Cameron, Jon and George. Viewing will be Thursday (8/24) from 9am-5pm and Friday (8/25) from 9am-7pm at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N Division, Spokane WA. A rosary and candle service will be on Friday (8/25) at 7pm at Hennessey. The Funeral will be on Saturday (8/26) at 10am at the Gonzaga Prep chapel, 1224 E Euclid Ave. There will be a private burial followed by a public celebration of life at the St. Aloysius School Cafeteria, 611 E Mission Ave. Everyone is encouraged to wear Gonzaga attire to these events. In lieu of flowers, the family has created the Carol Magnuson Memorial Fund that will be used to help the students and staff at St. Al’s Catholic School.
