Karen Lee Hegenderfer The beautiful soul of Karen lee Hegenderfer passed into the loving arms of Jesus on February 16, 2017. Karen was born on March 2, 1943 to Clayton and Marie Davis. Karen was raised in Seattle, Washington. She graduated from beauty school and began her career as a beautician. Karen grew in faith while attending Highland Park United Methodist Church in Seattle. This is where she met the love of her life, Larry Hegenderfer. They married on September 21, 1963. After welcoming three children to their family, they moved to Veradale, Washington in 1973 for Larry’s job. Karen began working at Suburban Styling Salon in the Millwood Community. She spent numerous years caring for Larry when his health deteriorated and later for her son Michael when he became ill. During this time, Karen became a childcare giver at Liberty Lake Christian Schools and Child Care. Karen had a heart of gold and loved unconditionally. She was known as “mom” to all of her children’s friends. She always made sure you never left her home with an empty stomach. Karen’s biggest joy in life was her grandchildren. It brought her enormous happiness and pride to be a “Grammy.” She enjoyed attending as many of her grandchildren’s activities as she could. If she was not able to be there in person, she loved hearing the play by play replays over the phone. Karen was their most fervent fan. Karen was preceded in death by her husband Larry of 31 years, her son Michael, her parents, and her brother Gary Davis. She is survived by her daughter Carol (George) Hegenderfer-Cooke, her son Steven (Molly) Hegenderfer, her grandchildren Devon, Sydnee, Hope, Logan, and Lucy, and her sister Judith Davis. Come help us celebrate Karen’s life on Saturday, March 4th at 2:00 PM at Green Bluff United Methodist Church located at 9908 E. Green Bluff Rd (corner of Green Bluff Rd and Day Mt. Spokane Rd). There will be a reception across the street at the Green Bluff Grange directly following her celebration. Memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
