Robert (Bob) Michael Chambers

January 26, 1959 - February 23, 2017

Bob finished his life’s journey at 58 years, 50 past his prognosis as he was one of three siblings with Muscular Dystrophy. He now joins his parents Flavia and Erv Kuebler, and his sister Flavia and brother Bruce, after beating the odds so many times. Bob was a middle child who is survived by older sisters Marie and husband Steve Hall and Denise Williamson; brothers Andrew (Melissa) Chambers and younger brothers Ethan and Rudy Kuebler. He was especially close to his aunt Nona Kay Amsbury. He enjoyed Facebook where he stayed connected to his numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; sharing his wit and off the wall humor. Gaming and reading on his tablet kept him busy when he wasn't visiting his friends at Northtown mall, and people in his neighborhood. His friend and aide Jason Hartell, marveled at how Bob seemed to be a "pied piper of women". Bob would grin and say "they think I’m harmless"!

Twenty six years ago he gladly took on the role of stepdad to Pats three children Christy Ducham, Lauri Warren, and Robert Ducham Jr, who have come to love and cherish him as he did them. He was a proud caring grandpa to Nathan, Marcus, Jermaine, Skyler and Lucas. Bob was also  a great-grandpa to Savannah, Arianna, and Riley who live in Texas.

Stubborn determination and humor forged this man’s charismatic personality. Refusing to let disability define him, Bob masterfully struggled for his independence, spending about four years in nursing homes on that journey. He, with the help of his aides, began his thirst for knowledge at WSU, then continued it at SCC and EWU to eventually earn his BA in 2009.

Bob was a staunch advocate for people with disabilities. He spent 2 years on the Developmental Disabilities Council instrumental in revising WACs in regard to ADA during the 90's, then becoming an LTC ombudsman, standing up for residents in two Spokane nursing facilities.

For two terms Bob was an Americorp Vista volunteer, maintaining computers for the NE Community Center, and teaching technology to Rogers High School students and to the community in the evenings. He was included in several advisory committees thru the years, including for STA and Red Cross.

Most of all, Bob was a loving, caring, amazing husband to Pat, never missing a chance to show his devotion in so many ways.

                                                                Rest easy Bob.

The mark you leave on our hearts will endure always.
