Hyla Clarine Baum

  Age: 89

Hyla Clarine Baum was Born Feb. 11, 1928 in Murfreesboro, Ark. to Samuel E. and Edna M Kelley and  passed away on July 8, 2017  in Spokane, WA surrounded by her family just the way she wished it would be.  Clarine attended grade and high school in Murfreesboro and attended Henderson State Teachers College.  She taught school for 2 years before her marriage to Paul R. Baum on Dec. 22, 1949. They then moved West where they would live for the rest of their lives.    Clarine resided in many different Western states. Frequent moving necessitated by her husband’s work, some 19 moves in all, before settling in Spokane, WA in 1974. She was many times tired of moving, but over the years became friends with many people and made many lifelong friends.     She was a devoted homemaker and an awesome southern cook but also helped her husband operate their business, Maaco Auto Painting, which they opened in 1975.  She was devoted to her two sons and their families, and enjoyed helping her four  grandchildren grow to adulthood.  Clarine was a member of Whitworth Presbyterian Church.  She was also a past member of the Silver Creek Order of Eastern Star.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul and sister Janette and all of her many brother and sister in laws.  She is survived by son Andrew and his wife Brenda and their children Greggory(Emily) and Kaitlyn(Tyler) and Son Edward, his wife Sandra, and twin daughters Cynthia and Courtney(Blake).  The family wishes to thank the staff at Providence Holy Family Hospital for all of the care and compassion they showed to Clarine and the entire family during her last days. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 1:30 PM at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W Wellesley in Spokane. Donations in her memory may be sent to the Spokane Humane Society, 6607 N Havana St, Spokane, WA 99217.
